SVAT Aerospace Pvt. Ltd. is an Indian aerospace startup developing indigenous electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for defence logistics, emergency response, rescue operations, and mobility in difficult and remote terrain. The company is developing two primary platforms: a manned eVTOL aircraft for short-range personnel transportation and emergency operations, and an unmanned heavy-lift cargo eVTOL designed to transport critical supplies, equipment, medical payloads, and defence logistics to locations where conventional road or helicopter operations are difficult, expensive, or time-consuming. SVAT Aerospace has already developed and flight-tested its first prototype and has successfully completed controlled manned flight testing, providing an important technical validation of the core aircraft architecture. The next development phase focuses on creating a near-MVP manned aircraft and a dedicated cargo MVP with improved structural design, autonomy, safety, endurance, and operational capability. A major technology focus is the development of a hybrid-electric propulsion architecture using a compact turbine-based generator to produce electrical power for the aircraft. This approach is intended to significantly increase endurance compared with battery-only eVTOL platforms, with a long-term target of approximately two hours of flight endurance. The aircraft architecture will also integrate autonomous navigation, route planning, obstacle avoidance, 360-degree LiDAR, redundant flight-control systems, and multiple safety mechanisms. The initial commercial focus is on defence forces, disaster-response organisations, government agencies, and specialised logistics operators. Revenue will primarily come from aircraft sales, followed by maintenance, upgrades, spares, training, and long-term support contracts. SVAT Aerospace aims to build a cost-effective Indian alternative to conventional helicopters for missions where vertical take-off capability, rapid deployment, lower operating costs, and access to difficult terrain are critical.
