Brio Green Technologies is a deep-tech specialty chemicals startup developing a decentralized manufacturing platform to convert agricultural waste into high-value silica materials. The company is currently at the prototype development stage, developing and demonstrating its process for converting rice husk ash (RHA), an underutilized by-product of biomass power generation, into high-purity precipitated silica for a range of industrial applications. Brio’s approach combines waste valorization with localized manufacturing by co-locating production units with biomass power plants and rice-processing clusters. This enables the conversion of an otherwise low-value waste stream into commercially valuable specialty chemicals while reducing raw material transportation, improving resource efficiency, and creating additional value within the agricultural and biomass ecosystem. The initial focus is on developing multiple grades of precipitated silica for applications across **rubber and tyres, FMCG, oral care, cosmetics and electronics**. Brio is also exploring advanced silica materials for next-generation electronic and semiconductor applications, with the long-term objective of developing a broader portfolio of specialty materials from agricultural residues. Brio’s long-term vision is to build a network of decentralized manufacturing facilities across India’s biomass-producing regions, enabling localized production of specialty chemicals while supporting import substitution, circular economy development, rural industrialization and resource efficiency. Through process innovation and sustainable manufacturing, Brio aims to transform agricultural waste into high-value materials and contribute to a stronger, more self-reliant Indian specialty chemicals ecosystem.
