Dhavaja Research & Innovation Labs is developing Dragonfly, an indigenous nano-drone based Airborne Personal Reconnaissance System (PRS) designed specifically for defence and security forces. Our core objective is to provide soldiers and tactical teams with immediate, real-time intelligence in high-risk, sensitive, and difficult-to-access environments while reducing direct exposure of personnel to threats. Traditional reconnaissance methods often depend on larger UAVs or ground patrols, which can be more visible, slower to deploy, or potentially expose personnel during critical missions. Dragonfly is being developed as a compact, lightweight and low-signature solution that can be carried and rapidly deployed by an individual soldier. The system is intended for applications such as situational awareness, covert surveillance, reconnaissance, force protection, assault mission support and post-operation damage assessment. The platform integrates electro-optical and thermal imaging, encrypted communication, AI-enabled autonomy, collision avoidance, GNSS and GNSS-denied navigation, and low visual and audible signatures. The drone is designed for more than 20 minutes of flight time, extended-range communication and operation during both day and night missions. The broader system also includes a one-handed controller and a lightweight ground station to make field deployment practical for soldiers. Our business concept goes beyond developing another UAV. We aim to build a domestically developed defence reconnaissance ecosystem that can reduce India's dependence on imported nano-drone technologies. Through continuous R&D, indigenous manufacturing and collaboration with defence and industry experts, Dhavaja aims to deliver a reliable, field-ready reconnaissance solution aligned with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and defence modernization objectives.
