Lekha is a money ledger for small manufacturers that runs the collections clock the law already gives every MSME. A factory owner's money today lives in a paper diary, photos on a phone, and memory, and no tool tracks the money buyers still owe against the deadline the law sets. Chasing an overdue payment means remembering it, calculating nothing, and asking politely — while the working capital that pays wages stays stuck with the buyer. Lekha puts that statutory clock inside the ledger. Every buyer bill carries the 45-day payment deadline (MSMED Act, Section 15), the interest that accrues after it (Section 16, at three times the RBI bank rate), and the buyer's tax consequence (Income-tax Act, Section 43B(h)) — computed, dated, and ready as a demand the owner can send. No billing app, khata app or accounting package runs this clock; Lekha turns a law that already exists into an everyday collections tool for a business that has no lawyer. Around that engine, an entry is captured by photo or by voice in Hindi — the owner photographs the paper bill or simply speaks it aloud, and AI turns it into the ledger line, so nothing is typed. This voice-and-camera-first, Hindi-first design is the point: the biggest reason owners abandon books apps is typing, and Lekha removes it. Money coming in, money going out, and staff salaries sit on one ledger, and each business's data is encrypted separately and never sold. The idea is proven today in an early web proof-of-concept; this grant builds the working prototype — a Hindi-first, voice-and-camera-first Android app — tested with real factories in the NCR.
