Our company mission is to develop plant-based farming as a production platform for recombinant bovine casein — a core input for animal-free dairy analogues such as cheese. About 58% of the food production emissions come from animal products. And agricultural greenhouse gas emissions can reduce by 28% if animal proteins are either removed from the system or grown using alternative technologies. However, removing the animal proteins would come at the cost of nutritional deficiencies such as vitamins A & B12, arachidonic, EPA & DHA fatty acids. Hence novel approaches to global protein supply are essential. With the increase in world food demand & protein demand, and accelerating climate change, there is a need of sustainable solutions to meet this demand. About 60% of the global protein supply comes from plant sources but 83% of the world’s farmland is used for production of animal proteins. Announced at COP26 (2021), led by the US & EU – the Global methane pledge targets a 30% reduction in methane by 2030 vs. 2020 levels. To stay below 1.5°C of warming, we must cut meat & dairy consumption by more than half by 2030 or look at alternative methods of production of these foods. In addition in India, cow is considered a holy animal by 80% of population yet India alone accounts for 25% of the world milk. Most people are not aware that Beef & Dairy industry go hand in hand.
