JJ&JJ Mechovative is developing IGNIRA, an affordable biomass-based smokeless chulha designed primarily for rural households that depend on traditional solid fuels for cooking. The concept aims to address the health, economic, and environmental challenges associated with conventional chulhas by improving combustion and reducing smoke generation. IGNIRA is designed to use locally available biomass fuels, including bio-pellets and agricultural residues, reducing dependence on expensive or infrastructure-dependent alternatives such as LPG and electric cooking systems. The current prototype has an approximate development cost of ₹800, while bio-pellets are estimated at approximately ₹20 per kg. The business will generate revenue through direct stove sales, B2B and institutional partnerships, replacement parts, maintenance services, and potentially biomass-fuel supply. The initial target customers include rural households, roadside eateries, tea stalls, and small rural businesses, while NGOs, CSR initiatives, and government programs represent potential institutional channels. The go-to-market strategy focuses on village-level entrepreneurs, self-help groups, product demonstrations, and institutional partnerships, enabling last-mile access and local adoption. The long-term objective is to develop IGNIRA from a working prototype into a scalable, affordable clean-cooking solution that combines practical rural usability with improved combustion performance and a sustainable business model.
