ChloroBites Biotech LLP is building India's first affordable, closed photobioreactor (PBR) platform for food-grade microalgae cultivation. Our core innovation is a compact, modular, contamination-free system designed for Indian conditions — solving heavy metal contamination and import dependency in India's algal ingredient sector. We do not sell algae. We sell the platform that produces premium algal ingredients, and we supply those ingredients to nutraceutical and functional food manufacturers across India. Existing closed PBRs cost ₹15–50 lakh+, inaccessible to Indian SMEs. Our modular flat-panel/airlift design achieves sterility and heavy-metal-free biomass at 3–5× lower capital cost. Open raceway ponds, which dominate over 80% of Indian algae production, cannot reliably produce FSSAI-compliant food-grade output. The prototype grant will fund fabrication of a 10–50L closed PBR unit with sensors, LED lighting, and sterile aeration. This validates the full bioprocess — from sterile cultivation to standardized biomass with defined protein and pigment content — de-risking the technology for commercial scale-up. ChloroBites is not just a food company. It is a bioprocessing platform enabling domestic production of phycocyanin, lutein, and algal protein, aligning with the BioE3 Policy (2024) priority on microalgae for food security and biomanufacturing.
