Gentrac Labs is developing HbPRISM, a smartphone-based diagnostic platform designed to enable rapid, non-invasive assessment of haemoglobin and bilirubin at the point of care and last mile. The platform addresses a fundamental gap in healthcare delivery: patients who require screening and monitoring are often located in settings where conventional laboratory infrastructure, trained personnel and specialized diagnostic equipment are limited or unavailable. HbPRISM combines two core technologies. NormaEngine is a proprietary image-normalization platform designed to reduce the impact of smartphone, camera, lighting and image-capture variability, enabling consistent analysis across devices and environments. On top of this normalization layer, HbPRISM uses AI models to analyse smartphone images of the eye and neonatal images to estimate haemoglobin and bilirubin and support clinical classification. This addresses a significant public-health need in India, where anaemia and neonatal jaundice disproportionately affect vulnerable populations. Until today, India could screen and treat, but had limited ability to monitor patients and capture patient-reported outcomes in real time and at scale. HbPRISM aims to close this final-mile gap by enabling accessible, repeatable monitoring and objective assessment using infrastructure already available through smartphones. The initial market includes government health programmes, community screening, primary healthcare, hospitals and maternal and neonatal care. Gentrac Labs plans to commercialize HbPRISM through a per-test technology model, supported by institutional and government deployments. The company is currently progressing clinical development, regulatory approval, intellectual-property protection and institutional partnerships, with the longer-term opportunity to scale across India and internationally.
