India burns over 100 million tonnes of agricultural waste annually, causing severe air pollution and soil degradation. At the same time, the world generates 400 million tonnes of plastic waste each year, of which less than 9% is recycled, while India continues to spend over ?13 lakh crore annually on crude oil imports. The over-reliance on non-biodegradable, fossil-fuel-derived products further strains landfills, requiring 1,240 hectares of new sites every year. At NULLTOX, we are reimagining the future of sustainable materials. Our vision is to develop a biomaterial with industry agnostic application to replace environmentally damaging plastic and fossil fuel derived products. We are a material science Startup aiming to develop biodegradable and reusable solutions. Our research focuses on developing a bio-material from agricultural waste, such as rice husk and paddy straw, which is often burned and contributes heavily to air pollution and soil degradation. By combining this low-value waste with biopolymers and natural additives, we aim to create materials that are biodegradable, reusable, and food-safe. In our current phase, we are in research and development, optimizing compositions to ensure durability, safety, and performance. The first line of applications we are exploring includes trays, mugs, and packaging solutions, targeted towards corporates and industries that are committed to achieving their ESG objectives. These use-cases allow us to validate our material, run early trials, and build scalable pathways for adoption. Looking ahead, we see potential to extend the same technology into areas such as paper alternatives and re-engineered materials, but our immediate focus is to bring our initial packaging products to market. Through this approach, we aim to prove the feasibility and impact of agri-waste-based bio-materials and pave the way for a more sustainable, circular economy.
