Bekar Ko Aakar is a DPIIT-recognized social enterprise that addresses the challenge of solid waste management by converting discarded household and industrial waste—such as old shoes, tyres, utensils, iron scrap, wooden logs, bottles, and containers—into handcrafted, eco-friendly products. These include planters, furniture, home décor, utility items, and gifting products made through creative upcycling. Our innovation lies in combining waste reduction with rural livelihood generation. We operate community-based micro-enterprise units, training rural and underprivileged women in product design, recycling techniques, and business skills. These women become confident micro-entrepreneurs, gaining both income and social dignity. In collaboration with Jhansi and Prayagraj Nagar Nigam, we also work on urban beautification projects, converting garbage dumping spots into selfie points and public spaces using materials collected from municipal waste. To date, we’ve: Processed over 5,000 kg of solid waste Created 29 city beautification projects Trained 100+ women Generated 120+ jobs Contributed ?60+ lakhs to the circular economy Conducted 100+ awareness sessions Our business meets the rising demand for sustainable, handmade, and customized products, while promoting the principles of reuse, recycle, and redesign. Bekar Ko Aakar is building a future where waste becomes wealth, women lead change, and cities grow cleaner and greener.
