THENIFC - TALK OVER COOKIES is a platform that provides Indian school children the opportunity to do virtual cultural exchange programs with school children of their age. "Talk Over Cookies" conducts 2 kinds of programs: International as well as India-Interstate. In each program, there is a lady moderator who conducts the program and encourages children to participate and talk. The name "Talk Over Cookies" was selected because in each program, schools are asked to have some cookies (BISCUITS) ready so that children may enjoy the biscuits during the program. This helps children and makes it easy (fun) for them. SOCIAL IMPACT of Talk Over Cookies:
1/ PROMOTING WOMEN EMPLOYMENT: “Talk Over Cookies” programs are conducted by freelance lady moderators. These are generally ladies who have the talent but, they are not working due to family responsibilities. By working for “Talk Over Cookies” (as freelancers), they are earning something and also they just need to work for few hours (which are normally hours when they have finished their house hold chores).
2/ PROMOTING PEACE AND HARMONY:
Children are getting to know other countries, other Indian states, their cultures. This helps children in getting to know their own identity as well as about the others thereby promoting understanding and harmony.
3/ PEOPLE ARE ALL SAME!
Children get to realize and understand that despite differences, people are fundamentally all same everywhere.
4/ BUILDING CONFIDENT CITIZENS
“Talk Over Cookies” is contributing in making children confident when they face the world.
