India is facing a silent yet widespread health crisis: Vitamin D deficiency. About 80% of the population—suffers from insufficient Vitamin D levels. Nation with at least 39% population being vegetarian still majorly rely on Vitamin D3, an animal-derived compound, which raises concerns around its acceptability with ever increasing awareness towards its source. Plant-Based Vitamin D2 A Scalable Solution to India’s Vitamin D Deficiency Crisis We will extract Vitamin D2 from mushrooms in oil and powder formulations, and use it to enrich fortify food and nutraceutical products for urban and rural market segment. We will also collaborate with existing popular food products manufacturers and help them shift to a more nutritious offerings thus supporting the food fortification needs of India. We have secured the extraction technology in association with NIFTEM, and in advance talks with Indias biggest millet FPO, to be our production partners, thus starting to establish the market channel for urban market via quick commerce. Once the market channel is activated, we will launch the Vit D2 enriched millet laddoo, as millet has alot of calcium but without Vitamin D, it is not utilised by body properly. We have plans to prepare Vit D2 enriched millet laddoo and Vit D2 enriched energy bar within a price range of Rs. 5 for 20 gms piece targetting the supplementary ration supply under mid day meal programme.
