Bussiness Ideas

Legal and tax professionals in India ranging from law firms, in-house counsels, and tax advisors to corporate compliance teams—struggle with fragmented, time-consuming, and unreliable legal research. India has over 150,000 practicing tax professionals and 1.5 million lawyers, many of whom spend hours manually searching statutes, case laws, and circulars spread across disconnected databases. Current solutions are mostly keyword-based search platforms or generic AI tools. Keyword search lacks context and often misses nuance, while generic AI models like ChatGPT hallucinate citations and cannot be trusted in high-stakes legal settings as seen in the ITAT Bangalore case where an order had to be recalled due to fake AI-generated case law. Beyond this, there is also a systemic lack of preservation and reuse of operational legal knowledge: insights generated within firms and companies are rarely captured or reused efficiently, leading to repetitive work, knowledge loss, and higher costs. Together, these issues result in wasted time, inefficiency, and serious risks to compliance and professional credibility. Our solution is EonLex, a context-aware legal AI platform designed to make legal and tax research faster, verifiable, and reusable. At its core, EonLex combines large language models (finetuned) with a proprietary legal knowledge graph that maps statutes, case law, circulars, and commentaries into a structured, machine-readable framework. When a professional asks a query, EonLex doesn’t just retrieve documents—it performs multi-step reasoning: pulling relevant statutes, cross-referencing judicial precedents, validating citations, and surfacing answers with source-linked references. This ensures that every response is accurate, auditable, and legally defensible, eliminating the hallucination risks of generic AI. Beyond external sources, EonLex also allows organizations to capture and reuse their operational research knowledge, preserving valuable insights generated by lawyers and advisors that would otherwise be lost. This creates a growing institutional knowledge base that compounds in value over time, reducing repetitive work and driving efficiency at scale. At scale, our product functions as a SaaS platform for professionals and an on-prem/private deployment for enterprises and regulators who need data security. This dual model enables us to serve the broad legal services market while meeting compliance requirements of large organizations.
