PhotonSilica (PHSI Technologies & Research Pvt Ltd) is India’s dedicated semiconductor R&D FabLab and fabless design house. Our core concept is to bridge the gap between academic innovation and industry-ready, domain-qualified silicon, beginning with high-priority segments like defense, space, and automotive electronics. By aligning with the India Semiconductor Mission and Design Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme, PhotonSilica aims to ensure semiconductor sovereignty, reduce import dependence at critical mature nodes, and build a globally competitive chip design ecosystem.
In the initial phase, we operate as a fabless design house — providing end-to-end chip design services (specification ? architecture ? RTL/verification ? physical design ? MPW tape-out ? bring-up). We leverage a hybrid EDA workflow (open-source + commercial) that reduces prototyping costs by up to 50% while ensuring foundry sign-off compliance.
Our innovation model revolves around creating a reusable “Design-Once, Qualify-for-Domain” IP library — secure MCUs, sensor-fusion cores, radar processors, and power management ICs — which can be rapidly adapted across multiple sectors. This reduces design cycles and accelerates time-to-market.
The long-term vision is to evolve into a cross-sector R&D FabLab, enabling India to locally design, qualify, and eventually manufacture radiation-hardened, automotive-grade, and AI/photonic chips.
