Mukh-Khata (VoiceBook) is a voice-first, AI-powered financial platform designed to bring India’s illiterate and semi-literate street vendors and micro-merchants into the formal digital economy. Despite earning daily incomes, millions of vendors remain financially invisible because they cannot use text-based bookkeeping or fintech applications. Their transactions are managed through memory or informal notebooks, which prevents them from building any credible financial history and blocks access to affordable formal credit. Mukh-Khata enables merchants to simply speak their daily cash and credit transactions in local languages using a WhatsApp-like voice interface. Our platform leverages vernacular speech recognition, natural language processing, and intelligent data structuring to convert unstructured speech into clean digital ledger entries. Over time, this data is transformed into financial summaries, transaction histories, and AI-driven credit insights that can be understood by banks, NBFCs, MFIs, and government programs. The platform operates on a B2B2C model. It is offered free to merchants to ensure mass adoption and remove literacy and cost barriers, while financial institutions and government agencies subscribe to verified, consent-based data, analytics, and loan referrals. This creates a sustainable revenue model while maximizing social impact. By converting “oral economic activity” into formal financial identity, Mukh-Khata reduces dependence on exploitative moneylenders, improves access to affordable credit, and empowers micro-entrepreneurs to grow their livelihoods. The solution builds scalable digital infrastructure for last-mile financial inclusion, enabling a more equitable and data-driven financial ecosystem for India’s vast informal economy.
