VarshaKrishi Udhyog Private Limited is an agricultural IoT startup building solar-powered wireless sensor nodes for smallholder farms. Our flagship product, the VK-S1 field node, monitors soil moisture, temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, CO2 and leaf wetness in real time using RS485 Modbus industrial sensors connected via LoRaWAN radio to our VK-GW1 edge gateway. The system operates without internet connectivity at the farm level, transmitting data over a 5-kilometre radio range to the gateway which connects to our cloud dashboard via 4G cellular. Farmers receive automated WhatsApp and SMS alerts when irrigation or intervention is required, requiring no smartphone app or internet connection. One gateway serves up to 50 farms simultaneously. The company was incorporated on 5 March 2026 and is incubated at the 5G/6G Centre of Excellence at IIT Kanpur under the UP Startup Policy 2020 (First Amendment 2022) EIR Fellowship. We hold DPIIT Recognition Certificate DIPP255998 issued April 17, 2026. Our target customers are institutional buyers — KVKs, government agricultural research colleges and state science council funded research farms. We have already submitted our first commercial quotation of Rs 3,38,000 to a CCOST-funded government college in Chhattisgarh for 5 sensor nodes and 1 gateway, with PO confirmation pending grant approval. Our revenue model combines one-time hardware sales averaging Rs 2-5 lakhs per institutional order with annual SaaS dashboard licenses of Rs 36,000 per year. A secondary farmer-direct model targets individual farms at Rs 8,000 hardware cost plus Rs 500-1,000 annual WhatsApp subscription. The system is priced under Rs 10,000 per node, making it 3-5 times more affordable than competing precision agriculture solutions. All hardware components are procured and prototype assembly is underway. We are seeking seed capital under the UP-Startup Policy to complete prototype assembly, pilot deployment and initial market expansion across Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states.
