ANA PlayLabs Global is an applied-AI company building learning products for early learners (ages 4–8). Its first product, ZigZu, is an AI reading coach that helps children learn to read English confidently. It listens to a child read aloud and teaches the words they miss using phonics. Children read aloud from a library of 200+ storybooks while ZigZu listens using real-time speech recognition. It follows along word-by-word, assesses pronunciation and reading fluency, and steps in to teach any word the child struggles with. The platform also provides parents with detailed progress reports and insights into their child's learning journey. Every child receives personalised reading practice similar to one-to-one tutoring, but at a fraction of the cost and through an ordinary smartphone. ZigZu is designed specifically for Indian learners. Its pronunciation assessment, speech models and phonics content are built around Indian English, enabling children to learn in a context that reflects how English is commonly spoken and taught in India. The product is already live and commercially available. More than 330 families have signed up, and children have collectively read nearly 60,000 words aloud in the last 45 days. The company addresses a significant foundational literacy challenge. Millions of children can recognise words but struggle to read aloud fluently and confidently. ZigZu helps bridge this gap by providing consistent, personalised reading practice that is accessible, affordable and scalable. While the initial focus is India, the solution can later be expanded to NRI families and other English-as-a-second-language markets. As children interact with the platform, ZigZu is building a proprietary Indian-English speech and pronunciation dataset that continuously improves the accuracy and effectiveness of its AI coaching. Over time, this technology and data foundation will strengthen the company's ability to deliver personalised literacy support at scale.
