BanaFibre, a venture by UrvaFlow Technoblogies Private Limited, is developing India's first mobile circular bioeconomy platform that converts discarded banana pseudostems into valuable products directly at the farm gate. Through its innovative Mobile Banana Pseudostem Processing Unit (MBPPU), the startup processes agricultural waste into premium banana fibre for textile and industrial applications, nutrient-rich bio-liquid that serves as an organic plant growth promoter, and vermicompost from the remaining biomass, ensuring complete utilisation of the raw material with zero waste. The solution addresses the challenge of agricultural residue management while creating new income opportunities for banana farmers. By eliminating the need to transport bulky pseudostems, the mobile processing model reduces logistics costs and enables value addition at the source. BanaFibre also integrates farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), research institutions, and market partners into a unified value chain, ensuring efficient production, aggregation, and market access. Beyond waste management, the venture contributes to rural livelihoods by generating additional income for farmers and creating women-led employment opportunities in processing and value-added activities. With a focus on sustainability, resource efficiency, and circular economy principles, BanaFibre aims to transform agricultural waste into commercially viable products while promoting environmentally responsible farming practices and strengthening India's bio-based economy across banana-growing regions.
