Shubhavni SmartFarms is an early-stage, women-led agritech startup working towards transforming the way saffron is cultivated and consumed in India. India imports a significant portion of its saffron to meet domestic demand, often facing issues like adulteration, inconsistent supply, and price volatility. Moreover, traditional saffron cultivation is geographically limited and highly dependent on specific climatic conditions.
At Shubhavni, we address these challenges by growing saffron indoors using an aeroponic, soil-less farming system under a controlled environment. This ensures a clean, chemical-free, and high-yield saffron harvest that is independent of weather and region, while maintaining optimal crocin content and purity.
Our mission is two-fold:
To reduce India’s reliance on imported saffron by building a scalable, homegrown model for Saffron cultivation.
To create a social impact by empowering rural women and homemakers through training, employment, and micro-farming opportunities.
We sell saffron directly to consumers through premium packaging suited for personal wellness and gifting, focusing on authenticity, transparency, and trust. By combining modern agritech with grassroots empowerment, Shubhavni SmartFarms is building a sustainable and inclusive future for saffron cultivation in India.
We are currently in the early growth phase, scaling our indoor farming model and building awareness around Indian-grown saffron through e-commerce, social media, and grassroots storytelling. Our long-term vision is to make India self-reliant in saffron while creating meaningful rural livelihood opportunities—especially for women.
